Nu när Bert Hadders äntligen har avgått från sin härliga karriär som VD för Platex Records, bestämde vi oss för att ge honom en liten avskedspresent, hans egna virtuella Platex singel.
På fritiden är Bert en medlem i Vändare, en traditionell skandinavisk dansgrupp, och han har alltid varit enivrig samlare av svenska folkmusiken. Så vi skickade Bert Hadders in i studion för att spela in sin egenSvenskt folksång!
Bert gav oss bevis på hans musikaliska professionalism som avslutning ”Ik daans Deur” på nolltid, och vårpersonal på Platex Records har också lyckats minska produktionstiden genom att arbeta extra hårt. I eftermiddag kommer det att finnas ett kalas som du alla inbjudna, på Platon skivbutik i Groningen. För att göra det en extra speciell dag för vår födelsedag pojke har Platex A & R människor lyckades få den endaskyhöga upp norra sjökort (för låtar sjungs på svenska språket), där det har fått en respektabel 4: e plats!Kolla in det här.

Harry the video wizard made an extremely cool clip for our next upcoming (any minute now) hit release ‘Ik daans deur‘ by Bert Hadders & de Nozems. Yesterday evening it premiered at the Vera club’s open air movie festival ‘Zienemaan‘ in Groningen.
I tried to get a good shot with my camera but these two geezers kept blocking my view.

Who would have thought that those pimply punks that populated places like Simplon and the squats round town in the early eighties would still be alive in 2006 and would still be playing punk-rock. Well some of them are. In fact they play better than ever! Fuckups singer Menno was probably still in kindergarten round that time and sounds like the bastard son of Bon Scott or Peter Bootsman. The combination of old farts and young upstarts produces real kick-ass rock ‘ n roll. We could have picked any of their songs but choose ‘ Oomph‘ for a cybersinglerelease. ( because we like short titles…)

This tale about a wicked little boy starts out as a ‘normal’ pop song but ends in an aural asylum. Mullhouse is one of those Frisian bands that came to Groningen.
(like Planet Orange, Cochon Bleu and Weekend at Waikiki before them) Groningen is the next big city and has always been a good place to further develop your music.(and your drinking habits) Listening to Mullhouse we hear different influences but there is definitely a unique sound.

‘Bullroarer’ is the recording debut for Australian guitar player John Jett. This chunky instrumental is named after a native Aboriginal musical instrument, which carries its sound for several miles. The bullroarer is used to warn people: there’s a men-only meeting coming up, not suitable for women and children. Watch out, girls.

John Jett was already an accomplished surf guitar player when for the first time in his life he saw waves. John was born and raised in the Alice Springs area in central Australia, where the creeks are hot and rain falls once every couple of years. He learned the tricks of the trade by listening to his Uncle Swagger’s enormous collection of Californian surf trash records.

Jett travelled north to the Darwin area and played night after night with his trio Ayers Rock, often to confused audiences who expected his namesake Joan (‘Where is the chick singer?’) on stage. Like most folks from down under he saved money for years and undertook a trip to Europe. In the city of Groningen he met his girl Marieke and decided to stay on. Platex Records fell like a brick for John Jett’s growling string strumming style. ‘Bullroarer’ was recorded with local musicians Sieto Kiewiet and Dim Junius. “Good guys”, John says, “if I strike it big I will surely take ‘em home to Australia to play the barns and beaches.
